Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was first held on October 9th - 10th, 1999. Coachella has always taken place in Indio, California - but in it's inaugural year was only a two-day event. The festival has always featured various genres of music - including rock, hip hop, electronic, etc.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is produced by Goldenvoice and AEG Live - who also produce the All Points West Music & Arts Festival.
Coachella has taken many twists and turns over the years; making various changes of format and schedule. In 2007, Coachella was extended to a three-day event and included headliners Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, and Bjork.
Coachella Music and Arts Festival offers tent camping which is adjacent to the music venue. Held in a large polo field near the venue grounds - the campgrounds includes a karaoke lounge, general store, and access to shower facilities. |
