On July 4th, 2008 - Rothbury Music Festival will welcome music festival-goers for very first time. Rothbury sets out to be a sustainable festival celebrating music, art, and action. This year, the festival will have over 70 bands on 8 different stages. Festival fans will be able to experience the likes of Dave Mathew's Band and Primus all in the same weekend (Huge Les Claypool fan here).
The festival promises to be much more than just a music festival and instead it will be a giant party. Hosted by Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan, the site will offer more than one might be used to at a festival. One will be able to walk trails, and through fields and forests, lakes and even beach fronts. There is also on-site lodging, but that seems to sell out very quickly. Double JJ Ranch even offers on-site bars and eateries.
As part of Rothbury Music Festival's mission; their theme is Finding Energy Independence. They are dedicated to running an event that is as close to zero-waste as possible.
Rothbury will also have a Think Tank that will have various roundtables between leading scientists, and writers, progressive political leaders, entertainers, etc. Topics that will be discussed will focus on Climate Change and Clean Energy. The festival will offer extreme amounts of opportunity for festival-goers to participate in the Think Tank and engage hands-on with various products and cutting edge, sustainable technologies. |
