I was out at the Mouse Trap over the weekend for a show after the Umphrey's McGee and STS9 show. I was handed a flyer for a festival that is actually taking place just about twenty minutes from where I grew up from the age of seven.
That festival goes by the name Melon Kamp and is taking place next month from August 22nd - 24th. Melon Kamp takes place in Noblesville, Indiana at Green Acres Campground.
The amount of information available right now is very limited, but here is what I can tell you so far!
Tickets are available for $40.00 USD as an advanced price or they will be $55.00 USD at the door. I'm not really sure what they mean by at the door - there will be camping available.
Check out the current line-up as well:
- Pnuma Trio
- Groovatron
- Mr. Blotto
- 56 Hope Road
- Jack Straw
- The Macpodz
- Chester Brown
- Funkshoe
- Jassy Grazz
- Shadyside All-Stars
- The PMGs
- The B.A.P.
- Many more to be announced!
This is really exciting for me - this is the second music festival I have discovered in Indiana. The other being Greenstock - click the name for our entry / information.

I'll be hitting up this private, hassle free, crazy kamp. It isn't required, though encouraged to participate in themes. Friday the 22nd will be glitter and glow sticks, Saturday the 23rd will be superhero's and ferries, and Sunday the 24th there will be about 500 melons. Be ready to carve and eat some melon, then wear them on you're head!!! Me and my friend's will be participating in all the themes, you won't be the only one to participate. Melon Kamp will be a wild one, come prepared for a festival with NO COPS!!!(Privately owned camp ground) See you there!

It is just crazy to see this festival / hear about one going on so close to home. It's really great and I've been watching several of these bands play in town since I was 21 (25 now!). Very cool!
Superheroes and fairies... one of my best friends love fairies - I'm not sure I could pull the super hero off though. :)
Can't wait to run into all the fans at a festival so close to home!
This Festival is going to be AWESOME. Most of the bands are pretty close with one another. Alot of people are friends with Smitka, the visionary putting it on. Themes are a sweet way to make the people closer and connected rather than divided. Smitka is the Melonhead and he's basically making it for everyone on Sunday with the watermelons. I believe they are free. The people will make this fest though, so come out.
