All_Good_festival_circle.gifThe All Good Music Festival which has recently come and gone for this season is asking everyone who attended to fill out a quick and easy survey they have posted online.

The survey should not take very long and really will benefit the organizers of the festival to gather clear feedback so they will have a better idea of what to offer festival-goers next year and the year after that.

Also, if you do respond and fill out this survey you will be entered in for a chance to win many All Good merchandise packages. What are in these packages? We have no clue - I couldn't find any information like that.

friedpixphoto replied in quick fashion to our short interview questions. The photo was taken at All Good Music Festival 2008 - read below for the interview.

friedpixphoto will be at Lollapalooza this weekend shooting in Chicago. Look for more great photos from him in our flickr group really soon!

potw_no15_thumb.jpg

What were you trying to capture in this shot (If anything at all)?
I was trying to focus on the people that make the festival what it is - very family friendly. Lots of kids in the crowd, having a great time - hula hooping, blowing bubbles, dancing, whatever. I hope they get to look back on these images when they are older.

How long have you been behind a camera?
I've been shooting pix for 20 years (I'm 35).

Do you prefer a certain brand of gear?
I shoot Nikon digital.

What is your favorite piece of gear that you own?
I favor the wide angle zooms. They force you to get close to the subject.

Do you find it troubling to carry equipment around at festivals and still have a decent amount of mobility?
I try to travel light at fests, but it never works...haha!

With that said, what do you normally carry with you at a festival?
I carry 2 bodies, and about 3-4 lenses from 14mm to 300mm and a flash with an off-camera sync cord.

We have an an update and response for our 14th Photo of the Week selection already. Kelan Bonislawski was quick to reply to our interview questions.

Check out his photo we selected below along with Kelan's response to some questions we had. The photo was taken at Rothbury Music Festival during the Dave Mathew's Band performance.

potw_no14_thumb.jpg

Well,

Having given up on trying to shoot the band on stage, which I think was dave matthews band, I decided to just capture exactly what was in front of my eyes- the people. Blocking my view of Dave Matthews bBnd. But it ended up turning out for the better because the crowd was 50% of the fun at the concert.

I've only been using a digital camera for about 4 months, and it's been a lot easier and cheaper than film. I'm still new to photography, and am planning on majoring in it next fall at Columbia College in Chicago.

Since I'm still new to this, my only experience with a camera has been with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel. So far so good. Nothing to complain about. It's definitely my favorite piece of gear i own considering all the other cameras i own are toys like lomography fisheye lenses, holgas, and various polaroids.

Rothbury was the first music festival I've been to and carrying the canon around was only inconvenient when I was fearful of drunkards spilling their beer on me. Other than that, the camera was small enough for me to carry anywhere, strapped around my neck.

melon_kamp_header.jpgI was out at the Mouse Trap over the weekend for a show after the Umphrey's McGee and STS9 show. I was handed a flyer for a festival that is actually taking place just about twenty minutes from where I grew up from the age of seven.

That festival goes by the name Melon Kamp and is taking place next month from August 22nd - 24th. Melon Kamp takes place in Noblesville, Indiana at Green Acres Campground.

The amount of information available right now is very limited, but here is what I can tell you so far!

Tickets are available for $40.00 USD as an advanced price or they will be $55.00 USD at the door. I'm not really sure what they mean by at the door - there will be camping available.

Check out the current line-up as well:

  • Pnuma Trio
  • Groovatron
  • Mr. Blotto
  • 56 Hope Road
  • Jack Straw
  • The Macpodz
  • Chester Brown
  • Funkshoe
  • Jassy Grazz
  • Shadyside All-Stars
  • The PMGs
  • The B.A.P.
  • Many more to be announced!

This is really exciting for me - this is the second music festival I have discovered in Indiana. The other being Greenstock - click the name for our entry / information.

The Photo of the Week was submitted to our Flickr group by friedpixphoto.

I chose this photo because of the high quality of the image itself. It was edited really well and is just a great shot - I also love the expression on both of their faces. It is great to see families at music festivals!

The photo was taken at All Good Music Festival 2008 - look for an interview in the time to come!

latitude_logo.gifThe Latitude festival is one of the only festivals I have written about this year that takes place in Europe. Latitude 2008 is over and the organizers are already offering tickets for the 2009 season.

Currently - and for a limited time - you can purchase tickets for Latitude 2009 at the same cost of a 2008 ticket.

I realize this is way too early for some of us to commit to anything - but if you know you are going to be in Europe next summer it is definately something to consider.

I am not going to try and convert Pounds to USD or anything. Just go check out the ticket prices for yourself!

monolith_festival_header.jpgThe Monolith Festival is offering a discounted ticket rate for festival-goers that decide to carpool to the event. Tickets are only being sold in packages of four or eight and all the ticket holders must arrive at Monolith Festival in the same vehicle.

These tickets are essentially the same as a 2-day festival pass, but are being sold to promote green living. Buy the tickets at the following link!

ff_banner.jpgFestival Friendly - Forum
Our forums were just put online last week and we are really excited to have these online now. Please register and join in on a discussion. We have already been fortunate to have a handful of really active and enthusiastic members. So exciting folks!

Festival Friendly - Myspace
We do in fact have our very own Myspace Profile. We have been fortunate enough to get a really great response from festival fans on Myspace. We seem to be getting new Friend Requests on a regular basis. Please keep adding us!

In time we will be adding some various tools and functionality to our Myspace Profile that will help as another resource for information on Festivals.

Festival Friendly - Facebook
We currently have a Facebook Group. I am not sure if this is available to everyone - as I noticed this is an actual Network on Facebook. Let us know if you have problems joining! We have had several photos added to our gallery there.

Festival Friendly - Flickr
This was our first group we created to help establish our presence online. As of today, our Flickr group has grown to 61 Members and our Photo gallery has a staggering 658 photos already. That's not bad for only creating the group about two months ago.

We are aware of several other avenues and websites that we can create accounts to help promote the site. In time, we hope that we don't have to rely on these sites to help get visitors. For now though - please check them out and add us as a friend on Myspace, or contribute to our Flickr group.

Most importantly though - sign up in for our forum and start contributing. We are growing already!

Phish is set to release a new DVD on August 8th and is currently offering an exclusive pre-order deal through their Dry Goods website.

The DVD is titled, "Walnut Creek" and is from the bands performance on July 22nd, 1997 in Raleigh, North Carolina. This was Phish's second stop on their summer tour - the show took place at Walnut Creek Ampitheatre through a horrible rain and thunderstorm.

I have not personally heard this performance before. According to Dry Goods the band played throughout the storm and improvised their music to play right along with the storm. This show is a perfect demonstration of how well Phish was able to transition from one song to the next all the while reacting to the crowd, the environment and to each other.

phish_walnut_creek.jpgFor all of those who pre-order there is a special gift in it for you. "Left Nuts" bonus CD will also be sent along with the the DVD while supplies last.

The show was an absolute blast. I wanted to post this update and share some photos that I was able to take at the show. I brought my Casio point and shoot camera with me, so the quality of photos is lacking.
