HeadCount is a non-partisan organization established in 2004 by a group of individuals who believed that the music community as a whole has the potential to be a politically influential force if properly represented.
HeadCount was established as a grass roots organization by music industry professionals, and artists, but the core of HeadCount is the volunteers that make HeadCount so successful each year.
The co-chairmen of the organization are Marc Brownstein, the bass player of The Disco Biscuits, and Andy Bernstein, the author of the Phish fan guide The Pharmer's Almanac. The board of directors includes Bob Wier from The Dead, Al Schnier of moe., as well as the people behind Relix Magazine, JamBase, and Bonnaroo, etc.
HeadCount is a non-for-profit organization therefore they rely on donations and merchandise sales to support the operations. Majority of their donations and funds come from performing artists and artist-based charitable foundations.
HeadCount is in need of volunteers across the country especially at music festivals this summer; so if you are interested in volunteering please follow this link.
Festival Friendly would like to encourage everyone who can vote, to vote. For my generation, this is one of the most important times for people to be active in the democratic process.
We are fortunate to have an organization like HeadCount out on the concert and festival tour helping to get people involved. Thank you!
