Ludacris has just been announced for Bumbershoot: Seattle's Music & Arts Festival. Bumbershoot is an annual international arts and music festival that is held at Seattle Center - a 74 acre property that was originally built for the 1962 World's Fair.

The festival takes place over Labor Day weekend - August 30th thru September 1st.

The following artists were just announced today in addition to all those already announced.

Monolith Festival - which we haven't written about as of yet - has announced artist additions to their lineup earlier this week. The Monolith Festival takes place September 13th - 14th in Morrison, Colorado at the Red Rocks Ampitheatre.

The Red Rocks Ampitheatre was voted the Best Live Music Venue in North America by Pollstar.

Tickets for the festival will go on sale this Friday, May 2nd at 10:00 AM. Single-day tickets will be available for $59.50 USD and 2-day tickets will cost $110.00 USD.

Coachella Builds a Bigger Game - the title of a recently purblished New York Times article written about this past weeks Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was first held on October 9th - 10th, 1999. Coachella has always taken place in Indio, California - but in it's inaugural year was only a two-day event. The festival has always featured various genres of music - including rock, hip hop, electronic, etc.

I realize today is a slow news day in the festival-world so I wanted to share this article. It's fun to watch the music industry really start to embrace music festivals. Hopefully Festival Friendly stepped into the door at the right time!

Outside Lands Music Festival has made additional announcements in regards to their lineup. Additions were made official late yesterday - and an actual daily line-up schedule was also released.

Outside Lands will have over sixty acts on five different stages after everything is aligned and finished. The festival will be held at Golden Gate Park, in San Francisco on August 22 - 24. Headliners include Radiohead, Tomy Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Jack Johnson.

Single day tickets were also announced yesterday. Those will be available for purchase online beginning this Thursday, May 1st at 10:00 AM PST. Ticket information can be found at the following link. Outside Lands Ticket Sales

News comes today about the annual Virgin Mobile Music Festival. The Virgin Mobile Festival will be returning to Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.  The festival is held August 9th - 10th and is a festival that has it's roots in the U.K. before debuting in the United States in 2006.

Regardless - Asheville Music Jamboree has made an announcement regarding artist additions to their lineup. Asheville Music Jamboree is not a festival that should be over looked either. AmJam takes place May 23 - 25 at Deerfields just 20 minutes south of Asheville, North Carolina AmJam offers the mega artists and bands that the larger festivals offer, but in a different atmosphere and setting.

I am running behind today on posting this update - I apologize. My actual job is keeping me extremely busy so I don't have much time to step away and take a break at this point.

Regardless, it's Monday - and Festival Friendly is making another Photo of the Week selection.

This photo was submitted to our flickr pool by Ryanwiz. I chose this photo because of it's subject - a Jerry Garcia shrine at a music festival. I think this fits in perfectly with Grateful Dead's announcement that was made last week.  Check out the selection below.

I will be making an effort to contact Ryanwiz and hopefully get a short interview and questions online for everyone to read.

The Reggae Carifest is celebrating its 10th annual event this July 6th - a Sunday. Reggae Carifest will be held at the USTA Arthur Ashe Tennis Center in New York City.

Reggae Carifest is a Regae Benefit Concert. The festival has joined together with KEEP A CHILD ALIVE - which helps to fight the war against AIDS in Africa.

Juke Joint Festival takes place in Clarksdale, Mississippi - and is a festival that combines a blues festival with a small-town fair. The festival aims to educate native Deltans and festival-goers through its music, exhibits, art and storytelling.

Bonnaroo has recently posted an exclusive video-interview with Ben Folds.

Ben Folds is an American singer-songwriter and was the frontman for the group Ben Folds Five. Ben Folds is well known for his songwriting and his ability to play multi-instruments including the piano.

Ben Folds will be performing at Bonnaroo amongst many other festivals this season.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival starts today. They have teamed up with AT&T Blue Room to provide live streaming audio of the festival over the internet.

Live web casts as well as recordings from the first week of the Jazz Fest will be available on May 3rd and 4th at AT&T Blue Room.

It is interesting to see so much live streaming audio and video starting to be presented online - for all of the music festivals. Technology is bringing everyone closer together!

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is estimated to bring $300 million in revenue to Louisiana which will be a tremendous help as the state is still recovering from Katrina.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival will be held at the Fair Grounds Race Course  and will begin each day at 11:00AM and will end at 7:00PM. There will be 11 different stages, with continuous music playing as well as a huge Food Fair offering over 100 different varieties of authentic Louisiana cuisine. This festival is huge!

The Grateful Dead Press Conference we wrote about earlier just recently ended. I was fortunate enough to watch and listen to the entire thing via iClips.net

Jerry is not back from the Dead like many have speculated. He wasn't spotted driving a VW Bus waiving peace signs at people as they pass.

Instead, this press conference was held to make a huge announcement in regards to The Grateful Dead archives. The Grateful Dead announced today that they are donating their archives to UC Santa Cruz. This archive will help to document the history of the band from 1965 to the present day.

The archive is not comprised of the music and videos that were created by The Grateful Dead. The Archive will actually be comprised of business records, correspondence from fans and band members, photographs, as well as flyers, posters, and shirts. The list will go on. Bob Weir and Mickey Hart - both from Grateful Dead and at the press conference - are not even aware of what actually exists in the Archive.

UC Santa Cruz was chosen because of their enthusiasm and willingness to take on such a project. The actual physical Archives will begin being moved to UC Santa Cruz sometime in the next few months. All the items will then begin to be itemized and the Archive will eventually be available online - open to everyone to see.

The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival announced additions to their lineup yesterday.

Taking place in Boonville, California at the Mendocino Country Fairgrounds - SVWMF offers the best of reggae and world music. The event will take place June 20 - 22. The Sierra Nevada World Music Festival promotes music with a message of peace, unity and brotherhood.

I am bumping this entry up today to remind everyone of the Press Conference that will be aired live today at 11:00 AM. Read below for further information!

Much speculation has already begun at the announcement of a press conference coming from Grateful Dead this Thursday, April 24th.

The press conference will be broadcast live for all festival-goers to view online for free via iClips.net.

Since the news is being billed as Grateful Dead it would imply that this has something to do with the band's past - when Jerry was still alive. Let's hope so!

As I saw on one message board - maybe someone found an old grate-song stuffed away in an old dusty monitor speaker somewhere.

The Dickson Street Music Festival is taking place in two days. It will run from April 25th - 26th in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the Walton Arts Center Parking Lot. I am mentioning this festival right now because it is actually related to the entry I made this morning - Earthtones Music Festival

Tickets for Dickson Street Music Festival are $30.00 USD per day or $50.00 USD for the entire weekend. Earthtones Music Festival begins this week - tomorrow actually. Earthtones Music Festival takes place in Fayetteville, Arkansas at George's Majestic Lounge from April 24th thru 26th.

This festival is a celebration of Earth Day which was actually yesterday (the 22nd). Earthtones Music Festival will feature three days of music and art in three different clubs on four different stages.

The best thing about this festival is that all admission is free during the day. You will only pay for the night shows after 7:00 PM.

Popped! Music Festival has made announcements pertaining to their lineup today. The Popped! Music Festival takes place in Philadelphia, Pennysylvania from June 20th - 22nd.

Popped! Music Festival will make a huge focus towards being green from working with local businesses that share the same vision, to helping to educate festival-goers and promoting the act of recycling and working towards being more sustainable.
